About The Position

The job of a Custodian is to provide students with a safe, attractive, comfortable, and clean place to learn, play, and develop. An employee must meet the physical demands described here to perform the essential functions of this job successfully. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly to walk, sit, stand, and reach with hands and arms, stoop or kneel, and crouch. Additional physical requirements may include the following: Physically capable of lifting or moving heavy objects. Sufficiently mobile to ensure the safety of students. Specific vision requirements include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to focus. Ability to sit and stand for extended periods. Manual dexterity to use a telephone and data entry. Read a computer screen and printed material with or without vision aids. Hear and understand speech at normal levels and on the telephone. Speak in audible tones so that others understand clearly in person and on the telephone. Performs other related duties, as assigned by the administrative team, to ensure the efficient, effective functioning of the school environment. This position requires the following physical demands: significant lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling; some climbing and balancing; significant stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling; and fine finger dexterity. Requirements

High school diploma or GED required
Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions in English
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds
Comfortable squatting, twisting, bending, and kneeling while using tools and performing maintenance tasks
Possess working knowledge of the methods, techniques, and materials used in custodial work
Ability to climb ladders and work from heights
Familiar with operating, caring for, and storing custodial equipment and supplies

Nice To Haves

Previous custodial and grounds experience preferred
