About The Position

The Childcare Coordinator assists the Area Activities Manager in overseeing children's activities and programs within the club and the community. This includes managing Kids in Motion, Childcare, Parents Night/Day Out, Summer Camps, and Birthday Parties. The role also involves assisting the Director and Aquatics Director with swim lessons and swim team, including hiring, coaching, and training new team members. The Coordinator is responsible for motivating and coaching the current team, ensuring shift fulfillment and coverage for emergency call-ins, and collaborating with the team to achieve monthly department goals. Additionally, the Coordinator completes daily/weekly sales, attendance, and inventory reports.

Requirements

  • Minimum of a high school diploma or GED equivalent.
  • Minimum of one (1) year experience in the health, fitness, recreation, and/or club environment, and/or two (2) years supervisory experience.
  • College degree is a plus.
  • Experience with multi-unit/multi-store customer service.
  • Experience, education, or training in child development preferred.
  • Health, fitness, recreation, and/or club environment experience preferred.
  • 1-2 years supervisory experience preferred.
  • Strong service orientation and desire to deliver an outstanding member experience.
  • Above average/intermediate computer skills (familiarity with Word, Excel, Publisher, internet, and email applications).
  • Above average writing, spelling, and math skills.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work professionally and effectively with people at all levels of the organization.
  • Work quality must be highly accurate, timely, and in accordance with company policy and procedures.
  • Excellent task completion and follow-through skills.
  • Demonstrate professionalism, cooperation, and ability to work well with all parties.
  • Willing and able to work a flexible shift: evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Ability to travel occasionally for company meetings and based on business needs.
  • Passion for the fitness/health/wellness industry.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary director for all children-focused activities and programs.
  • Directly supervise the Childcare Department, including coaching and disciplinary actions.
  • Ensure the Childcare Department runs smoothly and efficiently, adhering to policies and procedures.
  • Provide exceptional customer service to children, members, and parents.
  • Create and manage the monthly schedule for the CC/KIM team, ensuring all shifts are covered.
  • Calculate current and anticipated payroll per budget requirements.
  • Manage all Shift Change requests and call-ins.
  • Hire, train, evaluate, coach, and discipline team members as needed.
  • Prepare reports for the Area Activities Manager.
  • Conduct team meetings with the Childcare and KIM team.
  • Maintain active communication with Directors/supervisors at each club location.
  • Contribute to team and company efforts by accomplishing related tasks.
  • Extend excellent customer service to all members and departments.
  • Stay current with industry trends and network with vendors, peers, and competitors.
  • Engage in continuing education through reading, listening, watching, or attending seminars.
  • Enforce and inform the team of changes in policies, promotions, and programs.
  • Resolve member and team member issues by researching policies and procedures.
  • Cross-train and be familiar with all areas of the Club.
  • Work effectively with other Department Heads and/or Directors.
  • Complete any tasks assigned by the Area Activities Manager and General Manager.
  • Attend and participate in required meetings and trainings.
