About The Position

This position is located in Muskogee, Oklahoma, and is part of Oklahoma's largest state agency, the Oklahoma Department of Human Services (OKDHS). Extensive training will be provided to new employees, ensuring they are well-prepared to handle the responsibilities of the role. The position offers a competitive salary based on the level of the Child Welfare Specialist role, with additional incentives for those holding a Master's degree in Social Work and for on-call positions. As a Child Welfare Specialist, you will be involved in various programs within Child Welfare, including Child Protective Services (CPS), Family Centered Services (FCS), and Permanency Planning (PP). Your responsibilities will include investigating allegations of child abuse or neglect, providing services to families, and ensuring the safety of children. You will also work on preserving and strengthening the protective capacities of parents to keep children in their homes, as well as planning for the permanency of children when returning them home is not possible. All new employees will complete the Child Welfare Core Academy Training Program, which will equip them with the necessary skills to learn treatment and preventive services, conduct assessments, refer families to community services, and participate in investigations of abuse and neglect. Additionally, you will attend court hearings, provide testimony, and consult with legal partners regarding efforts to protect children and reunite families. This role requires extensive travel, and candidates must possess a valid driver's license and maintain required car insurance, as state vehicles will be available for use in carrying out job duties.
