About The Position

The Child Welfare Specialist I/II/III position at Oklahoma Human Services focuses on ensuring the safety and well-being of children and families in Oklahoma. This role involves working closely with Child Protective Services to assess reports of suspected abuse and neglect through the statewide hotline. Specialists will receive extensive training and have the opportunity to make a significant impact in their local communities.

Requirements

• Master's degree in Social Work or related field for Level III.
• Bachelor's degree in any field for Level II.
• Completion of 90 hours from an accredited college or university or 3 years of related experience for Level I.
• 1 year of experience as a Child Welfare Specialist for Level II.
• 2 years of experience as a Child Welfare Specialist for Level III.
• Valid driver's license and required car insurance.

Responsibilities

• Screen and analyze reports of suspected child abuse and neglect received by the hotline.
• Assist callers by providing information regarding alleged child abuse or neglect.
• Interpret definitions of child abuse or neglect to callers.
• Identify possible instances of child abuse or neglect based on information provided.
• Gather sufficient information to make informed decisions about allegations of abuse or neglect.
• Document and process reports in the Child Abuse and Neglect Information System (KIDS).
• Determine if allegations require an emergency response and notify district Child Welfare Services personnel when necessary.
