About The Position

The Child Welfare Services Assistant position in the Orleans Region - Jefferson Parish is an entry-level role focused on providing basic child welfare support services to clients. The assistant will help clients access agency services and support professional staff in delivering child welfare services. This role involves direct interaction with clients, assisting them with various needs, and ensuring their safety and well-being during transportation and visits.

Requirements

• No experience or training is required.
• Possession of a valid driver's license is necessary.
• Must not have been convicted of certain crimes as specified in R.S. 15.587.1 (c).

Responsibilities

• Assist professional staff in providing child welfare services to clients.
• Instruct clients in practical applications of housekeeping, shopping, personal hygiene, and childcare.
• Transport clients to clinics and other service locations, ensuring their safety.
• Observe and report clients' behavior to professional staff for assessment purposes.
• Monitor family visitations and prepare necessary reports.
• Schedule and arrange transportation for client follow-up visits.
• Communicate effectively with clients to defuse potentially dangerous situations.
• Complete various forms and reports as required.
• Secure preliminary social and health history information for professional staff.
