About The Position

The child welfare caseworker is responsible for protecting the greatest resource, our children. He/she is responsible for assisting in the implementation of the social services program activities to ensure that the goals and objectives of the program are carried out. He/she is responsible for representing the tribe in various state courts and participating in tribal courts as needed. He/she will be expected to respond to referrals in a timely manner and to engage in ongoing case management for both state and tribal cases. The child welfare caseworker will serve as ICWA liaison between all agencies or committees and the tribe.

Effectively lead, instruct, and teach both adults and youth
The incumbent shall have at a minimum a bachelor’s degree in a social service-related field from a four-year college or university.
Must have a valid driver’s license and qualify under the Quapaw Nation’s insurance policy.
Must be able to sit or stand for prolonged periods of time, as well as regular reach above the shoulders; must be able to push, pull and lift up to and including 10 pounds without experiencing physical discomfort or pain.

Nice To Haves

License or certification in related field is preferred.
Working knowledge or experience in Indian Child Welfare Act and child case management preferred.

Responsibilities

Coordinate family and children’s services and resources to establish and maintain a tribal referral system.
Provide timely information regarding available resources and services to Court Administrator and/or Executive Director.
Provide recommendations to supervisors regarding local services and their availability to improve service delivery on a regular basis.
Refer families in need to appropriate service and resource programs and follows up to ensure that services have been delivered in an appropriate and timely manner.
Actively conduct child abuse investigations reported on the Quapaw Nation Reservation that involve any native child and/or support state agencies in an investigation on state land that involve a Quapaw child.
Effectively conduct home visits to program clients.
Organize community activities promoting healthy families, children, and sense of community well-being.
Ensure active efforts are being made by state courts in ICW Cases.
Assist with foster home recruitment & licensing.
Actively participate in case reviews.
Conduct relative searches for children who are in state or tribal custody.
Develop, organize, and maintain confidential files, prepare, and submit reports in a timely manner, participate in time home studies & activities related to funding resources as required.
Collaborate and coordinate training activities for foster parents as needed.
Attending meetings, conferences, training, court hearings, etc. which may require travel during weekends, evenings, and holidays.
Provide tribal case management services on child welfare case plans which include but are not limited to child placement activities, preparation for and participation in judicial review, case plan development, placement prevention services, reunification, and aftercare services.
Provide accurate statistics and data for yearly reporting for Title IV-B funding
Other duties as assigned by the program director.
