About The Position

The Child Welfare Assistant position is located in Craig, Oklahoma. This role involves providing lower-level case management assistance and support for Child Welfare Specialists (CWS), clients, client families, and other interested parties. The position requires extensive travel and the possession of a valid driver's license along with maintaining required car insurance.

Requirements

  • Child Welfare Assistant I: Six months of experience in general office clerical work, providing care for children in a licensed day care facility, sales, or public contact work, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Child Welfare Assistant II: One year of clerical experience in a governmental or non-profit social services provider environment, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, substituting thirty semester hours of college for the required experience.
  • Child Welfare Assistant III: One year of clerical experience in a governmental or non-profit social services provider environment plus two additional years of clerical experience in a child welfare environment, or an equivalent combination of education and experience, substituting thirty semester hours of college for the required experience.

Responsibilities

  • Provides lower-level case management assistance and support for Child Welfare Specialists (CWS), clients, client families, and other interested parties.
  • Performs administrative support tasks and other related duties to include general office duties, inputting case documentation, compiling social and economic data, scheduling and assisting in meetings with clients, parents, and other interested parties.
  • Schedules required appointments for doctor visits, family visitations, court appearances, and others; arranges or provides transportation for children and clients.
  • Interviews clients and their families and reports findings to assigned CWS.
  • Advises clients of available child welfare services and resources; provides specific program information to clients and may refer to community resources for assistance.
