About The Position

ICF seeks a Child Welfare and Education Research Analyst to join our Child and Family Well-Being (CFWB) Line of Business. In this role, you will support research, evaluation, technical assistance, implementation, and continuous quality improvement (CQI) efforts focused on child welfare and K–20 education. You will help design and administer data collection activities (e.g., surveys, interviews, focus groups), analyze qualitative and quantitative data, conduct literature reviews, create data visualizations, and draft high-quality deliverables for federal, state, and local agencies and foundations. This is a full-time, remote position with occasional travel for site visits, in-person meetings, and data collection activities. Key Responsibilities As a Research Analyst, you will collect, analyze, and synthesize data from surveys, interviews, focus groups, administrative data, observations, and site visits. You will collaborate closely with project teams, support client communications, and contribute to proposal development.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Education, Public Policy, Social Science, or a related discipline (master’s preferred).
  • 2+ years of experience conducting qualitative and/or quantitative data collection, research analysis, or evaluation.
  • Demonstrated ability to produce clear, professional, high-quality written deliverables.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage work products independently and deliver tasks on time.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft 365 applications, including Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Excel.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including technical writing and presenting to varied audiences.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with high attention to detail.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks in a fast-paced, changing environment.
  • Collaborative, proactive work style; able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
  • Interest in K–12, postsecondary, and child welfare systems and improving outcomes for children and families.
  • Willingness to travel occasionally for site visits, in-person meetings, and data collection activities.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience developing online surveys and using platforms such as Qualtrics.
  • Experience conducting qualitative analysis using software such as Dedoose, NVivo, or Atlas.ti.
  • Experience cleaning, merging, and manipulating datasets in a professional setting.
  • Experience in creating data visualizations using tools such as Power BI or Tableau.
  • Prior experience in a consulting environment.

Responsibilities

  • Supporting focus groups, including participant recruitment, logistics, note-taking, and summary reporting.
  • Designing, fielding, and monitoring surveys (online and/or paper), including instrument testing and quality checks.
  • Analyzing quantitative data using statistical software (e.g., R, Stata, SAS, SPSS), including cleaning, merging, validation, and documentation.
  • Conducting and supporting interviews and focus groups; analyzing and synthesizing qualitative data using coding software (e.g., Dedoose, NVivo, Atlas.ti).
  • Drafting reports, briefs, and presentations for technical and non-technical audiences; incorporating feedback and ensuring editorial quality.
  • Creating clear, accurate data visualizations and supporting project teams in using data for decision-making.
  • Conducting observations and participating in occasional site visits to locations nationwide.
  • Conducting literature reviews and contributing to research briefs, memos, and other written products.
