Child Watch Associate
About The Position
The Child Watch Associate is responsible for providing a safe and caring environment for children while in YMCA care. The Birthday Party Associate works with their supervisor to create a fun and engaging birthday at the YMCA. Engages with parents and children in a positive way in both Child Watch and during birthday parties to further the mission of the YMCA of Greater Brandywine. Who Are We? Requirements
- High school diploma or GED preferred
- Must be at least 15 years of age or older
- Experience with children preferred
- Obtain and maintain all additional new hire certifications and trainings within 90 days of hire

- Physically perform all skills required of a lifeguard.
- Hear noises and distress signals in the aquatic environment, including in the water and anywhere around the zone of responsibility.
- Remain alert with no lapses of consciousness.
- See and observe all sections of an assigned zone or area of responsibility.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the safety and whereabouts of the children in the group at all times, providing a safe, interactive program.
- Maintain a clean and risk-free room arrangement.
- Maintain records, including, (but not limited to): accident and incident reports, sign in/out sheets, attendance records.
- Greet parents and children daily using names in all interactions.
- Report and/or direct parental concerns to supervisor.
- Use positive, age-appropriate behavior management tools, including redirection and positive reinforcement, using the Y voice at all times.
- Ensure compliance with all YGBW policies and standard operating procedures.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
