About The Position

The Montana Department of Public Health and Human Services (DPHHS) has a career opportunity within the Child Support Services Division. The Child Support Services Division (CSSD) seeks to diligently pursue and ultimately achieve financial and medical support of children by establishing, enforcing, and increasing public awareness of parental obligations. The Child Support Investigator maintains a complex caseload (up to 500 cases) and provides state administered child support services. Requirements

  • Knowledge of investigative principles, due process, administrative and judicial process.
  • Knowledge of general collections principles and social service programs.
  • Ability to analyze information, make decisions and solve problems.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Bachelor’s degree in criminal justice, business administration, public administration, social work, psychology, or related field.
  • Three years job related experience, child support, general investigative or relevant collections experience.
  • Other combinations of directly related education and experience may be considered on a case-by-case basis.
