About The Position

Coordinate activities concerned with ordering, receiving, storing, inventorying, issuing, and shipping food, materials, supplies, and equipment in the child nutrition warehouse. Safeguard the District’s investment in foodservice materials and supplies with efficient and effective warehousing practices. Satisfy campus foodservice needs in a prompt and efficient manner that can be met by the distribution of food, materials, supplies, and equipment within the child nutrition warehouse.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Clear and valid TX driver's license and ability to be insured under school district insurance
  • Ability to work effectively and independently within delivery schedules
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Ability to understand and follow detailed written or verbal instructions
  • Ability to perform basic math
  • Ability to communicate effectively with others
  • Must have experience with required inventory documentation to include receiving, organizing and recording temperatures and inventory counts
  • General computer skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Office and Google applications and the internet
  • Ability to operate hand tools and mechanical equipment
  • Ability to drive and operate delivery vehicles equipped with lift gates
  • Minimum of two years of experience in warehouse or delivery operation

Responsibilities

  • Verify accuracy of shipments by counting, weighing, or measuring items and comparing size, weight, description, and code numbers with information on invoice or packing slip and purchase orders.
  • Record any discrepancies or damages; process receiving, discrepancy, and damage reports when needed.
  • Open crates and other containers using hand tools to unpack items received; inspect shipments for damage and defects.
  • Record temperatures of delivered products and maintain proper Hazard Analysis and Critical Control Points (HACCP) storage and documentation.
  • Sort and store items on rack shelves or in bins according to predetermined sequence such as size, style, color, or product code.
  • Move inventory to various locations manually and by operating mechanical equipment, including forklift, pallet jack, and handcart.
  • Assist in the receipt of all shipments by loading and unloading delivery trucks by hand or by use of hand trucks; process receiving, discrepancy, and damage reports.
  • Assume responsibility for the delivery of all items received at the Distribution Center.
  • Maintain a shipping log.
  • Read and fill requisitions for stock items, and verify the accuracy of the order pulled.
  • Assume daily responsibility for the delivery of all items received at the warehouse to the proper school or department.
  • Maintain computerized inventory records, take physical counts periodically, and check against inventory control totals.
  • Abide by the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) food storage regulations log and maintain expiration, shelf life, and use by date of stocked items.
  • Operate small refrigerated trucks to transport food, materials, and supplies.
  • Inspect, service, clean, and maintain vehicles; prepare mileage, fuel, and other reports.
  • Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties including lifting, carrying, etc.
  • Correct unsafe conditions in the work area and report any conditions that are not correctable to the Warehouse Manager immediately.
  • Detect repairs on vehicles and equipment by following established inspection procedures.
  • Perform routine cleanup operations in the service area such as sweeping and mopping floors.
  • Conduct location surveys, records, audits, and inventories.
  • Coordinate with manager, school nutrition personnel, health inspectors, and vendors on recalled, re-issued, and/or expired items.
  • Recommend remedial action for reported non-usable, slow moving, and excess stock.
  • Assist in the planned layout of warehouse and other storage areas considering turnover, size, weight, and related factors of items stored.
  • Recommend equipment requirements to manager.
  • Maintain vendor receiving control logs.
  • Other Duties as Assigned
