Responsible for food preparation, inspection of kitchen equipment, safety and sanitation practices. Supervision of Helpers. Adhere to federal and state laws as well as, district policies, procedures and regulations. Essential Functions Prepare and serve a variety of main dishes, vegetables, and baked goods, using recipes and standard commercial cooking equipment. Inspect, clean, and sanitize equipment and work area. Supervise Child Nutrition Helpers in proper equipment maintenance and storage. Ensures the quality and presentation of food items are according to the highest standard, by tasting food to ensure palatability according to Texas Public School Nutrition Policy. Record amount of food prepared and left over; store or dispose of food properly. Instruct Helpers in safety and sanitation practices. Supervise and organize work of Helpers assigned to a section. Plan and perform advance preparations for meals as indicated on Food Production Worksheet (take meat to thaw, etc). Plan cooking schedules to have food prepared on time; serve food at the optimum temperature for palatability and safety. Ability to read, write and follow oral and written directions. Attendance at the work site is required to meet essential functions of the job. Other Responsibilities 1. Participate in professional development activities as required by district, state, and federal policies. 2. Follow established safety procedures and techniques to perform job duties; support district/department goals. 3. Maintain a professional code of ethics and perform other duties as assigned. 4. Complete annual continuing education requirements.
