About The Position

The Child Nutrition Clerk/Warehouseman is responsible for overseeing all warehouse functions for Child Nutrition purchases including receipt, inspection, distribution, and inventory of goods. All Federal Commodity Distribution and Mid-Del Child Nutrition procedures including safe receiving, storage, handling, and transferring must be followed. This position will also assist with the receipt, inspection, and distribution of non-Child Nutrition district materials such as paper and custodial products. Additional duties that must be completed are recording temperature checks of the freezer and maintaining a clean and safe work environment.

Requirements

  • Ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily
  • High School diploma or general education degree (GED); or three to six months related experience and/or training, equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Must hold a valid driver's license.
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instruction, and procedure manuals.
  • Demonstrate ability to write daily reports.
  • Demonstrate the ability to communicate with students, parents, co-workers and CN staff, other department staff and school facility with professionalism and respect.
  • Ability to perform routine computations requiring knowledge of addition, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Demonstrate the ability to adapt recipes to correct number of portions to prepare.
  • Demonstrate the ability to solve practical problems, and deal with a variety of situations where only limited standardization exists.
  • Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise, coordinate and perform daily physical transfer of food and supplies to and from schools according to Mid-Del Child Nutrition and USDA handling, receiving, and distribution procedures.
  • Perform scheduled warehouse receiving, storage, and delivery functions including inspecting goods, dating new product, stocking deliveries, tracking inventory, and filling orders for all school sites.
  • Learn and practice basic body mechanics, lifting techniques, and other safety skills necessary to perform the job.
  • Train on hand-truck, pallet jack, and forklift operation.
  • Learn proper procedures for loading and unloading trucks.
  • Learn proper skills necessary for driving large trucks
  • Assist with pulling, delivering, and picking up district orders as needed.
  • Monitor and maintain accurate warehouse inventory levels using computer software and physical inspections.
  • Additional duties that may be assigned by immediate supervisor or above.
