About The Position

The Child Life Activity Technician provides a variety of indirect and direct patient care, under the supervision of Child Life Specialists in the Muma Children’s Hospital. Demonstrate knowledge of child development and appropriate activities for age groups required. The ability to provide a therapeutic and safe environment for individuals and groups. Exhibit and deliver strong customer service skills with patients, families, students, volunteer staff and the health care team. Provide oversight to volunteer and Pet Therapy programs, work with the community in providing high quality events for patients and families. Demonstrate the ability to assist patients and families in coping with the stress of hospitalization through assessment of the individual by providing normalizing activities appropriate for their developmental age. Responsible for performing job duties in accordance with the mission, vision, and values of Tampa General Hospital.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Applicants with HS Diploma must have at least 10 hours of course work in Child Development, Family Studies, Education, Psychology, Florida Department of Children and Families Birth thorough Five Training Certificate along with 1 year of relevant experience in pediatric setting.
  • BLS required within 60 days of employment
  • Must be available to work 10:00 a.m. – 7:30 p.m. every Wednesday, Thursday, and Saturday, plus every other Friday (64 hours per pay period).
