About The Position

Johns Hopkins All Children's Hospital is a premiere clinical and academic health system, providing expert pediatric care for infants, children and teens with some of the most challenging medical problems. Ranked in multiple specialties by U.S. News & World Report, we provide access to innovative treatments and therapies. With more than half of the 259 beds in our teaching hospital devoted to intensive care level services, we are the regional pediatric referral center for Florida's west coast. Physicians and community hospitals count on us to care for critically ill patients and perform complex surgical procedures.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Child Life, Child Development or closely related field; Master's degree preferred.
  • Child Life Certification: Employee who has completed internship will have one year from date of hire to sit for and successfully pass the Child Life Certification Exam.
  • Thorough knowledge of child development and ability to assess individual, age-specific needs.
  • AHA Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required.

Responsibilities

  • Assist the patient, family, and health care team in identifying the psychosocial and developmental factors impacting the health care experience.
  • Exhibit and deliver strong customer service skills with patients, families, students, volunteer staff, and the health care team.
  • Facilitate effective group activities and interventions.
  • Utilize a wide range of therapeutic modalities for diverse interventions.
  • Demonstrate strong interpersonal communication skills.
  • Manage time and resources effectively.
  • Learn and utilize computer applications as needed.
