About The Position

The position is located at Edward Hospital in Naperville, IL, offering per diem hours primarily during the day from Monday to Friday, 7am to 3:30pm or as assigned. The role involves floating between various locations including PEDS, PICU, NICU, ED, and Surgery units. The primary responsibility is to support the psychosocial development of children during hospitalization, surgeries, and outpatient visits. This includes providing developmental activities and creating treatment plans that align with the medical and psychosocial needs of the children, helping them adjust to the hospital environment, and preparing them for medical interventions. Additionally, the role involves coordinating the design and maintenance of the physical, therapeutic, developmental, and educational environment of Child Life Services.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Child Development, Early Childhood Education, or a related field.
• Must meet the requirements to take the Child Life certification exam.
• Child Life Certification.
• Current CPR-BLS Certification issued by either American Heart Association or Red Cross.
• Minimum of two years of experience in a hospital setting or medical facility.

Responsibilities

• Support the psychosocial development of children during hospitalization, surgeries, and outpatient visits.
