Requirements

  • Associate’s Degree in child development or related field preferred.
  • Minimum of one-year experience working with children.
  • Works collaboratively with all departments.
  • Demonstrates flexibility in response to unexpected changes in work volume.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Fulfills work schedule and commitments.
  • Uses interpersonal skills that convey a positive and supportive attitude.
  • Gives constructive feedback in a non-blaming, positive and confidential manner.

  • Keyboard skills and ability to navigate electronic systems applicable to job functions.
  • BLS for Healthcare Providers card from the American Heart Association.

Responsibilities

  • Works alongside Child Life Specialists to minimize stress and anxiety for patients and their families in the hospital setting.
  • Supports Child Life program through planning, organizing, and facilitating playroom and bedside activities for pediatric patients and their families.
  • Responsible for the training and supervision of Child Life volunteers.
  • Monitors and ensures proper cleaning and working condition of playrooms, toys, and equipment.
  • Assists in the coordination of special events, in-kind donations, and community visitors.
  • Performs other duties appropriate to the position when requested by the manager or by other members of the Child Life program.
