About The Position

What You Bring: Bilingual fluency in English and Spanish (spoken and written) Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education, Early Childhood Development, Special Education, Psychology, Social Work, or a related field (relevant experience may substitute for education) Demonstrated knowledge of early childhood development (ages 0–5) At least one year of professional experience conducting early intervention screenings using the Ages and Stages Questionnaire (ASQ-3 and ASQ-SE) Strong verbal and written communication skills Ability to create engaging, creative, and developmentally appropriate activities for young children Proven ability to build effective relationships with children, parents/caregivers, colleagues, and community members from diverse backgrounds Comfort working with families around sensitive topics related to child development Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize, take initiative, and exercise sound judgment Proficiency with modern office equipment and software, including computers and data systems Ability to lift up to 25 pounds regularly for setup and breakdown of childwatch materials and curated play experiences Administrative & Operational Strengths: Highly organized with strong attention to detail and follow-through Comfortable with documentation, data entry, and maintaining confidential records Ability to enter, maintain, and review data for internal tracking and external auditing purposes Skilled in maintaining accurate ASQ files and progress reports Willingness to support general Center operations, including occasional front desk coverage and childcare support as part of a collaborative team Openness to ongoing learning, training, and professional development Preferred Experience: Classroom or group facilitation experience Experience leading developmental playgroups or parent education workshops Experience working in family-facing or community-based early childhood programs Key Responsibilities: Early Intervention & Developmental Screening: Conduct ASQ-3 and ASQ-SE developmental screenings with children and families Review results to identify children who may benefit from early intervention services and track developmental progress Discuss caregiver questions and concerns in a supportive, strengths-based manner Provide referrals to Center and county resources when appropriate Maintain accurate, confidential screening records and progress reports Program Implementation & Family Support: Lead developmental playgroups and hands-on activities that foster learning and growth Facilitate workshops and one-on-one coaching for parents on developmental milestones, positive parenting, and related topics (training provided) Create an inviting and enriching environment for children ages 0–5 to learn through play Engage caregivers in meaningful conversations about child development, offering guidance, encouragement, and resources Provide Spanish-language support, including translation and interpretation, as needed Coordination, Training & Collaboration: Receive training to administer Ages and Stages developmental screenings and conduct screenings each session Monitor and coordinate ASQ appointments for yourself and other staff Train and coach staff on ASQ screening procedures Plan and support occasional ASQ-focused events at the Center Attend professional development, trainings, and workshops to expand skills and knowledge Receive Community Health Worker (CHW) certification in alignment with CalAIM requirements to support family engagement, care coordination, and education services Collaborate with colleagues to ensure integrated, family-centered services Center & Team Support: Support general Center operations, including childwatch and front desk coverage as needed Help maintain a clean, organized, and program-ready environment Contribute as a flexible, collaborative team member to enhance the Center’s impact and community atmosphere Who We Are: The Vallejo First 5 Center, a program of Bay Area Community Resources, is the first and only free-standing community center of its kind in Solano County. The center offers free programs that help parents/caregivers nurture and support their young children so they grow up healthy, happy, and positioned for success. The program focuses on parent education, early learning opportunities, family literacy, and community resources. Classes are for children ages 0-5 and their parents/caregivers to participate in together, in a welcoming and vibrant atmosphere.
