About The Position
Challengers Independent Living is a non-profit organization dedicated to providing comprehensive life skills services to youth who reside in foster care. With over 25 years of experience, Challengers has served nearly 2000 of Maryland's most vulnerable youth. The mission of Challengers is to prevent homelessness among youth aging out of foster care. We are currently seeking a compassionate and experienced Childcare Provider to join our dedicated team. The ideal candidate will provide nurturing and stimulating childcare for adolescents, making a positive impact on their lives. This role is an excellent opportunity for someone who is passionate about changing the lives of children residing in foster care. As a Childcare Provider, you will be responsible for providing high-quality childcare to children, ensuring their physical, emotional, and educational needs are met. You will create engaging and safe environments for children to learn and play, planning and implementing age-appropriate activities such as arts, crafts, and educational games. It is essential to develop and maintain a positive and inclusive "homelike" environment that promotes social skills, emotional intelligence, and cognitive development. You will also work closely with children with special needs, providing additional support and accommodations as necessary. Maintaining accurate records of daily activities, meals, and any incidents that may occur is a critical part of this role. Additionally, engaging in ongoing professional development to stay current on best practices in residential childcare is expected. This position offers flexible scheduling options, allowing for both part-time and full-time work, with expected hours ranging from 24 to 40 hours per week.
