About The Position

The Child Care Worker works with grades K-5 and/or preschool children in Community Education programs. This position involves assisting with program duties including indoor and outdoor activities, supervising children, and providing a safe environment. The worker will interact with the children and provide positive behavior reinforcement and guidance, while also maintaining the rooms, supplies, and equipment. Responsibilities include washing toys and tables, maintaining inventory, setting up and taking down tables or equipment, supervising on the playground or in the gym, and light cleaning. The Child Care Worker will work as part of a team with other staff members or designated volunteers to maintain a positive and professional work environment. Communication with the Program Manager, Coordinator, and program staff regarding daily schedule, duties, attendance tracking, and related matters is essential to ensure consistency in practice. Attendance at required District training in Bloodborne Pathogens and staff development topics, as well as staff meetings throughout the year, is also necessary. Maintaining current certification in First Aid/CPR is required, along with other job duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Age 16 or older, per Minnesota Statute §245H.08 Subd 3
  • Must have reliable transportation.
  • Current First Aid and CPR certification is required
  • Flexibility and the ability to sub for other Child Care Workers or shifts is needed.
