The Child Care Teacher II position involves providing care for children in assigned groups, focusing on their individual needs within the developmental framework of social, emotional, physical, and intellectual development. The teaching staff is responsible for creating activities that challenge children according to their appropriate developmental levels. The role emphasizes the importance of developing feelings of confidence and well-being in children through successful interactions with adults, peers, and their physical environment. Adherence to developmentally appropriate practices is essential, and the teacher will oversee team planning for designated classes.

  • Provide care for children in assigned groups, focusing on individual developmental needs.
  • Create and implement activities that challenge children at their appropriate developmental levels.
  • Foster feelings of confidence and well-being in children through positive interactions.
  • Adhere to developmentally appropriate practices in all activities and interactions.
  • Oversee team planning for designated class or classes.
  • Forty (40) clock-hour Introductory Child Care Training (Part I and Part II) and five (5) clock-hour Early Literacy and Language Development course.
  • Associate degree in Early Childhood Education or Bachelor's/Advanced degree in Early Childhood, Elementary Education, or Exceptional Student Education; or a two (2) year degree with six (6) college credit hours in Early Childhood/Child Growth and Development.
  • Two (2) years of experience working with children in a classroom setting.
  • Current Level 2 AHCA background clearance.
  • Three (3) years of experience working with young children.
  • Demonstrated expert interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work and plan with other caregivers in a team setting.
  • Demonstrated patience, enthusiasm, and respect for children.
  • Working knowledge of early childhood development.
  • Ability to use correct grammar and spelling in writing parent notes, incident reports, and communication boards.
