About The Position

The University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences (UAMS) is seeking a Child Care Teacher I/II/III for its Head Start/Early Head Start program. The role involves planning and implementing a daily program for children, supervising them, and ensuring their safety at all times. Requirements

  • Child Care Teacher I: High School Diploma/GED with a Child Development Associates (CDA) credential in infant toddler PLUS one (1) year of early childhood experience.
  • Child Care Teacher II: Associate degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development or related field or Associate's Degree with at least six (6) credit hours in early childhood education PLUS one (1) year of early childhood experience.
  • Child Care Teacher III: Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development or related field with at least six (6) credit hours in early childhood education PLUS one (1) year of experience in early childhood education or related field.

Responsibilities

  • Creates and maintains an atmosphere conducive to learning, both through physical classroom materials and instructional activities.
  • Implements approved regular goals while utilizing techniques necessary to motivate learning in small children.
  • Makes regular assessments of instructional materials for the classroom and communicates the need for replacement or repair as needed.
  • Supervises students in all activities both inside and outside the classroom, ensuring everything is in place in case of absence.
  • Identifies achievement levels of each student and provides ongoing evaluation of progress.
  • Identifies and accesses behavioral concerns requiring involvement of program resource staff.
  • Establishes and maintains continuous communication between parents and staff.
  • Encourages parent involvement to increase literacy skills and classroom participation.
  • Becomes thoroughly knowledgeable of all required program standards and regulations and adheres to them.
  • Participates in school-sponsored activities and attends faculty staff meetings as required.
  • Maintains all required documentation.
  • Maintains the child/staff ratio.
  • Performs all duties as assigned.
