About The Position

This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. Provides direction for the children in the before and afterschool program, and implements program curriculum. Provides a quality experience to children and parents that focuses on building achievement and belonging in youth and relationships among youth and within families. THE SCHEDULE FOR THIS POSITION IS MONDAY - FRIDAY (SHIFT: 9AM - 11AM)

Requirements

  • Meets educational requirement of a minimum of a High School diploma.
  • At least 18 years of age.
  • CPR, First Aid, AED and oxygen certifications and Child Abuse prevention training within 30 days of hire date.
  • Ability to plan, organize and implement age-appropriate/developmentally appropriate program activities.
  • Ability to develop positive, authentic relationships with people from different backgrounds.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous experience working with children in a developmental setting preferred.
  • Previous experience with diverse populations.

Responsibilities

  • Implements the curriculum and interacts with children within the established guidelines.
  • Nurtures children through purposeful programming dedicated to building achievement and belonging in youth and relationships among youth and within families.
  • Supervises the children, designated rooms, and all activities including ADA accommodations where appropriate.
  • Follows all procedures and standards.
  • Knowledge of and ability to quickly implement emergency procedures to ensure safety of the children.
  • Cultivates positive relationships and maintains effective communication with parents, school staff, and Administration.
  • Engages parents as volunteers and connects them to the YMCA.
  • Assists in maintaining the program site and equipment ensuring a clean, orderly, compliant, safe and positive environment for the students and parents.
  • Enforce the Association’s Policies and Procedures regarding arrivals, departures, absences, incident/accident reports, E-Child Care swipes, fee collection, monthly program calendar, and daily schedule.
  • Attends and actively participates in school events, program activities, staff meetings, and staff training. A minimum of 20 hours is required annually.
  • Assist the Site Coordinator in lesson plan activities and the monthly newsletter.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
