About The Position

The Child Care Licensing Specialist is responsible for enforcing codes, regulations, and statutes for child care facilities through inspections, investigations, and technical assistance. This role involves agency coordination, development of standards, and recommendations for license or permit issuance, ensuring compliance with child care regulations.

Requirements

• High school diploma, GED, or equivalent with five years of experience in childcare licensing or related field and six college credits in relevant subjects.
• Associate's degree in a related discipline with three years of experience in childcare licensing or related field.
• Bachelor's degree in a related discipline with one year of experience in childcare licensing or related field.
• Valid State of Alaska Driver's License with a safe driving record at time of hire.
• Current TB screening test at time of hire.
• MOA Peace Officer Certification must be obtained within one year of hire.

Responsibilities

• Enforce codes, regulations, and statutes for child care facilities through inspections and investigations.
• Provide technical assistance and training to child care providers.
• Coordinate with agencies to ensure compliance with child care standards.
• Develop standards for child care licensing and recommend licenses or permits for issuance.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
