Requirements

  • Education: AA/AAS degree in Early Childhood or related field as defined by DHHS Division of Child Development Education unit, required.
  • Experience: Minimum of 2-year verifiable experience in a childcare center, or years of experience working with children up to 12 years of age, required.
  • Licensure/Certification: NC Credentials or equivalency defined by regulatory compliance Division of Child Development Workforce Unit, required.
  • Adult and Pediatric CPR/First Aid within 2 months of hire, required.
  • ITS SIDS (Sudden Infant Death Syndrome) within 2 months of hire (infants up to 12 months of age)of age), required.
  • Additional Skills (required): DHHS NC Division of Child Development Criminal Background Letter (required renewal every 5 years), and Workforce letter (within 60 days of hire) or education verification until workforce letter is obtain.
  • Ability to successfully complete generic and department-specific skills validation and competency testing.
  • BSAC required for those working with school age children.
  • CDL for school age if driving the buses.
  • NC Division of Child Development Qualifying Letter/Criminal Background letter
  • NC Division of Child Development Workforce letter within 2 months of hire
  • NC Institute for Child Development Professional ECE Certification within 2 months of hire
  • CDL license (if hired for driving buses) and working with school age children.
  • Maintain training hours requirements as outlined by the Division of Child Development
