About The Position

The Child Care Cook, also known as a Food Specialist, at The Children's Courtyard on Bryant Irvin Rd, is a pivotal role responsible for the comprehensive food preparation for all enrolled children at the school. This position demands adaptability to evolving menu changes and strict adherence to established meal and snack schedules. Key responsibilities include the creation of home-style, nutritionally balanced meal plans, meticulously crafted within the confines of the school's budget and menu guidelines, while rigorously complying with all pertinent state and federal regulations. The Food Specialist is tasked with the preparation and distribution of meals and snacks for both children and staff, with a paramount focus on health and safety. This involves diligently following daily menus provided by the Director, ensuring all food preparation and handling practices meet USDA, licensing, and/or health department regulations. Beyond culinary duties, the role encompasses organized inventory management of food and supplies, including timely ordering to prevent shortages. Furthermore, the Food Specialist is expected to provide support in classrooms as an Assistant Teacher/Floater whenever necessary. Responsibilities

  • Create home-style, nutritional meal plans in the boundaries of their school's menu and budget, as well as state and federal requirements.
  • Prepare meals/snacks for children and staff and distribute food to the classrooms.
  • Follow the daily menu provided by the Director which incorporates USDA, licensing, and/or health department regulations.
  • Maintain inventory of food and supplies and order more when needed.
  • Assist in classrooms as needed as an Assistant Teacher/Floater.
