About The Position

Watertown-Mayer Public Schools is seeking a Child Care Assistant to support the Kids’ Company program. This position helps create a safe, engaging, and inclusive environment for children through active supervision, positive guidance, and meaningful interaction. The Child Care Assistant supports daily program operations, inclusion efforts, and family communication while following district policies and program procedures. Your Role Will Include: Actively engage with children throughout all program hours using a warm, patient, and receptive approach. Apply appropriate child guidance techniques, including positive reinforcement, redirection, role modeling, and problem-solving facilitation. Assist with and implement accommodation plans to support student success. Lead and support group activities as directed by the Inclusion Specialist. Set up, organize, and put away games, equipment, and supplies according to the weekly program schedule. Maintain accurate records including attendance, behavior reports, accident logs, and timesheets. Support child nutrition procedures and keep program and storage areas orderly. Greet children and families during check-in and pick-up; communicate program guidelines and provide regular positive feedback to parents. Attend scheduled staff meetings and complete required in-service training (2% of annual hours). Follow all policies, procedures, confidentiality requirements, and maintain professional boundaries. Perform other related duties as assigned. Light physical work, including standing, walking, lifting up to 20 pounds occasionally, and exposure to typical school and program environments.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent and one year of experience working with children required.

Nice To Haves

  • College coursework in education, recreation, or a related field preferred, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
