About The Position

This position provides care for children in assigned groups, focusing on individual needs within the developmental framework of social, emotional, physical, and intellectual growth. The role assists in creating an environment and providing experiences conducive to a child’s continuous development in these areas. It also helps foster feelings of confidence and well-being by offering opportunities for successful interactions with adults, peers, and their physical environment. Activities are designed to challenge children appropriately for their developmental level.

Requirements

  • DCF Introductory forty (40)-clock-hour Child Care Training comprised of Part I and Part II courses and five (5)-clock-hour (or .5 Continuing Education Units) Early Literacy and Language Development, or within 90 days of hire or transfer.
  • A current Level 2 ACHA background clearance.
  • High School Diploma, GED or Certificate.

  • Demonstrated ability to work and plan with other caregivers in a team setting.
  • Demonstrated patience, enthusiasm and respect for children.
  • Demonstrated interest in learning early childhood development.
  • Demonstrated ability to use correct grammar and spelling in writing parent notes, incident reports and communication boards.
  • Demonstrated flexibility in working with several age groups of children.
  • Demonstrated ability to write notes and fill out incident reports.
  • One (1) to four (4) years of experience working with children in a classroom setting.
