About The Position

Primary Purpose: Provide childcare services as stated by the Texas Department of Protective and Regulatory Services to enable teen parents to pursue and earn a high school diploma or GED.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
• Ability to work well with infants and young children
• Ability to work well with teenage parents and adults
• Effective communication (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills
• One to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience

Responsibilities

• Supervise infants and children at all times.
• Maintain a clean and safe learning environment.
• Demonstrate physical, emotional, and intellectual competencies necessary for self-control and good judgment when performing assigned responsibilities.
• Recognize and respect the uniqueness and potential of all children, their families, and their cultures.
• Interact with children, showing affection, interest, respect, and fostering developmentally appropriate independence.
• Participate in professional learning, staff meetings, and special events as assigned.
• Maintain familiarity with the district’s curriculum to better serve the needs of children and parents.
• Articulate the district’s mission and goals to the community and solicit community support.
