About The Position

Assists the director in providing a safe and quality environment for children in the Child Care Program.

Requirements

• Any combination equivalent to: High school diploma, GED certificate, or demonstrated progress toward obtaining a GED as required by Kentucky law.
• Experience working with children in an organized setting.
• Knowledge of: Safe practices in program and playground activities.
• Knowledge of: Interpersonal skills using tact, patience, and courtesy.
• Knowledge of: Basic record-keeping techniques.
• Knowledge of: Health and safety regulations.
• Ability to: Learn child guidance principles and practices.
• Ability to: Communicate and maintain effective relationships with students, parents, and staff members, both orally and in writing.
• Ability to: Print and write legibly.
• Ability to: Understand and follow oral and written instructions.
• Ability to: Learn and apply safety procedures and regulations.

Responsibilities

• Monitors children in small or large groups to ensure their safety. Follows procedures to safeguard the health and safety of children.
• Assists the director in planning various activities for the children.
• Assists with organizing materials.
• Promotes positive parent and child interactions and activities.
• Participate in staff activities and in special training programs.
• Perform related duties as assigned.
