About The Position

This is paraprofessional work assisting the Winnebago Child and Family Services (CFS) Unit. Under immediate supervision of the Child and Family Services Supervisor, the Case Aide provides a variety of direct customer services to families involved with CFS and provides clerical support to the Child & Family Services Unit. This position assists in meeting the needs of families with children involved in the Child & Family Services Unit. This position requires work during the evening and on weekends.

Requirements

  • Two years of college coursework and/or professional training, or two years of work experience in public contact, customer service, human services, and/or office support is required.
  • One-year experience working with Native Americans is required.
  • Must have excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must have the ability to interact appropriately with persons of diverse backgrounds and socio-economic levels.
  • Must be timely, dependable, courteous, and maintain a business-like appearance.
  • Must possess keyboarding skills for data entry, and be computer literate and proficient in Microsoft Office (particularly Word, Excel, and Outlook).
  • Must have the ability to operate various office equipment and systems (ie. Copier, scanner, phone system, voice-recognition software, etc.)
  • Must possess strong organizational skills, have an ability to prioritize work and be able to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be able to work evenings and weekends as necessary.
  • Must be able to maintain the strictest confidentiality, and will be required to sign a confidentiality agreement.
  • Knowledge of Federal, State and Tribal Law on abuse and neglect of individuals is required.
  • Knowledge of Confidentiality Laws and Regulations is required.
  • Basic knowledge of the Indian Child Welfare Act is required.
  • Must possess a valid driver’s license, maintain valid insurance, and be insurable under the Tribe’s insurance policy.
  • Must be of good moral character. Will be required to pass a federal background check and submit to pre-employment drug testing.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of social work, counseling, sociology, psychology or other applied social science is preferred.
  • Knowledge of Winnebago culture and traditions is highly desirable and a willingness to learn is required.

Responsibilities

  • Enters, retrieves and researches information using Tribal and State of Nebraska computer systems.
  • Operates various equipment such as scanning, imaging equipment, multiline phone system, finger print system, computers and related equipment to obtain necessary customer information, to prepare documents, and to complete customer applications and/or files.
  • Codes and indexes documents as they are scanned, performs quality control by inspecting and verifying scanned documents
  • Stores documents in a prescribed manner so they are retrievable and associated with the correct customer.
  • Completes or enters information and mails form letters to obtain verification of client resources, client’s status or other information necessary for eligibility or other status reviews.
  • Completes forms and reports or enters information regarding scheduling, billing appointments or other documents involving services or program activities.
  • Inputs required information into the computer for accessibility by caseworkers.
  • Escorts and transports children and adults to and from their homes, foster homes, institutions and various medical, dental, educational, counseling, employment and/or recreational activities.
  • Provides transportation and supervised visitation for families involved with Winnebago Child and Family Services
  • Provides documentation of client interactions and visitations for the caseworker including information on identified strengths and barriers.
  • Picks up food, clothing and other essentials and delivers to client residences as applicable.
  • Provides information to clients and community members concerning the services and resources available through the agency and community partners
  • Helps clients and community members use the services available through the agency and other appropriate community partners.
  • Visits client homes, monitors client home and interactions during visitation, and documents home visits.
  • Assists Caseworkers with research for specific situations or circumstances including enrollment and family trees.
  • Assists the Caseworker and Family Support Worker with coordination and facilitation of Family Team Meetings.
  • Assists with coordination of calendars for court, training, vehicles, and on-call rotations.
  • Assists with ordering supplies, office equipment maintenance, and provide front office coverage as needed.
  • Attends CFS, Winnebago Tribe, and State of Nebraska trainings when relevant.
