GENERAL PURPOSE: Maintains 24 hour-a-day accountability for all patient care and nursing activities on assigned inpatient unit. Oversees and directs unit activities including standards development, human resource management, assessment of resource needs and utilization, staff development and communication within nursing practice as well as among other disciplines and departments. Oversees all performance improvement activities at the unit level and participates in committees at all levels within the institution. FT position available A dynamic opportunity for an experienced psychiatric mental health nurse to lead the unit nursing team and collaborate with the child and adolescent interdisciplinary treatment team. Individual must have experience with children, teens, and families, and be able to demonstrate clinical expertise providing acute care and stabilization of complex patients with psychiatric mental health concerns. Strong leadership skills, mentoring skills, critical thinking skills, daily practice of the ICARE values, and awareness of providing a safe and therapeutic environment for patients and staff are a must.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of experience in psychiatry with strong knowledge base in growth and development, family dynamics, and cognitive behavioral therapeutic approaches to care and milieu management.
  • Requires NYS license and minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in nursing
