About The Position

Responsible for crisis intervention, individual and group counseling and for case management services to child participants. The Child Advocate works closely with the Shelter and Advocacy Coordinator to ensure a safe, healthy, ethical environment conducive to participant healing. The Child Advocate in conjunction with Shelter and Advocacy Coordinator is responsible for on-going development of child programs. Answer hotline calls, conduct intake paperwork and exit interviews for all participants that come in and out of shelter.

Requirements

  • Minimum high school diploma; two years of college preferred.
  • Child Advocate must have experience in working with children.
  • Completion of advocacy training required within three months of hire.
  • Child Advocate must be certification in first aid and C.P.R.
  • Willingness to submit to drug screening and background checks.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinates basic needs assessment, intervention, and supportive counseling services for children.
  • Provide guidance and counseling services in a group setting to child residents.
  • Provide evening activities to children in shelter through therapeutic and recreational activities to include tutoring, birthday parties, and holiday events.
  • Maintain contact with non-offending parent regarding child/children’s behavior, progress and/or any concerns.
  • Maintain thorough and accurate client service records and statistics.
  • Participate in weekly case review meetings
  • Maintain confidentiality in all matters of Quigley House.
  • Avails self to available training as required.
  • Understand and promote the culture of philanthropy.
  • Serve as a philanthropic ambassador within the organization and community.
  • Help cultivate relationships on behalf of and in support of the organization.
  • Work with development staff to support grant applications and other development activities.
  • Demonstrate respect for the dignity and equality of all people
  • Maintain standards of confidentiality in accordance with Quigley House policies
  • Display a commitment to the mission of the agency and adhere to all policies and procedures
  • Present a positive public image of the program through a high level of professionalism
  • Have the ability to travel, work flexible hours and maintain a positive leadership role.
  • Assume other duties as assigned by the Director of Domestic Violence Services.
