The Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist serves as a member of an interdisciplinary team and performs psychiatric evaluations, evaluation and management services, care coordination, assessments, consultations, medication management, and follow-up appointments for children and adolescents with a variety of mental and behavioral healthcare needs. This position may provide care to occasional youths in transition and/or adults. Please note: While this position is primarily office-based, it may be eligible for some remote work flexibility. On-call is required on a rotation basis. Provide direct clinical care by conducting psychiatric evaluations, evaluation and management services, care coordination, assessment, consultations, and medication management for children and adolescents, as well as occasionally youths in transition and/or adults. Assess and diagnose according to the criteria outlined in the most recently published Diagnostic and Statistical Manual for Mental Disorders. Consult with the individual’s caregivers, parents, guardians, personal support system and/or family as well as other professionals from schools, agencies, outside community organizations, and juvenile courts to coordinate care and provide individualized recommendations for treatment. Coordinate integrated care with internal and external provides of mental health, physical health, and substance use disorders. Order and evaluate laboratory and other diagnostic tests as deemed clinically appropriate. Recommend and encourage the use of increased prescriptions for Medication Assisted Treatment (MAT) for tobacco, alcohol, and opioid use disorders when clinically appropriate. Provide education regarding chronic health conditions, disease process, healthy lifestyle management, vaccinations, and medication management including risks, benefits, and side effects. Support residents, fellows, and trainees, and contribute to the establishment of psychiatric programs, policies, and procedures. Testify in judicial proceedings on matters concerning persons served as warranted. Participate in monthly on-call rotation as assigned. Adhere to and maintain compliance with proper guidelines and procedures to maintain a safe, hygienic environment including infection control, medical waste, pharmaceutical waste, and sharps disposal. Utilize motivational interview strategies and a trauma-informed approach to engage with and provide service to individuals. Complete all required documentation completely, accurately, and in accordance with CNS Meet direct service productivity and documentation standards per agency and program expectations. Maintain compliance with quality care initiatives including Meaningful Use (MU), Medicare Merit Based Incentive Payment System (MIPS), Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities (CARF), and Certified Community Behavioral Health Clinic (CCBHC) requirements. Ensure that the CNS Healthcare standards of service are applied to interactions with individuals served, guests, and staff. Assume responsibility for professional growth by current reading and attendance at educational programs and conferences. Maintain knowledge and compliance with established policies and procedures, corporate compliance program, code of ethics, applicable federal, state, and local laws and regulations, HIPAA standards, and other regulatory programs. Perform other related duties as assigned.
