Responsibilities

  • Architect and evolve an org structure designed to scale from $40M to $100M+ ARR, enabling high ownership, throughput, and innovation.
  • Hire, coach, and retain a world-class engineering and technical leadership bench, creating clear career paths and accountability systems.
  • Continuously raise team quality by 10% year-over-year through data-driven performance management, strong peer review culture, and continuous improvement systems.
  • Build a culture of high performance, autonomy, and transparency, with clear systems to reward excellence and address underperformance.
  • Lead the planning, coordination, and execution of all engineering initiatives with clarity, urgency, and predictability.
  • Ensure tight alignment between business objectives and engineering deliverables, with shared accountability on outcomes.
  • Drive >90% sprint completion rates with 70%.
  • Ensure all features and epics undergo design/architecture review, or are explicitly exempted with rationale.
  • Establish engineering excellence standards for resilience, observability, performance, and security.
  • Maintain zero SLA breaches through rigorous ops readiness, proactive monitoring, and blameless postmortems.
  • Lead the engineering organization to deliver differentiated, high-impact technology solutions that advance our market position.
  • Encourage bold thinking paired with pragmatic execution—bringing new ideas to life through experimentation, rapid prototyping, and system-level thinking.
  • Directly own the AI and data science function, including algorithm strategy, model development, performance evaluation, and MLOps maturity.
  • Use AI and developer tooling to double engineering productivity over two years, combining strategic tooling, AI copilots, and process redesign.
  • Foster a strong culture of technical exploration, staying ahead of evolving tools, frameworks, and architectural paradigms.
  • Set high standards for measurement, visibility, and data-driven decision-making across engineering execution.
  • Define and enforce a disciplined development lifecycle, with clear expectations around throughput, test coverage, design rigor, and quality.
  • Ensure leadership and stakeholders have timely insight into execution health, risks, and dependencies—enabling alignment and confident decision-making.
  • Partner with the CPO and CRO to jointly own end-to-end execution and delivery across the company, minimizing operational dependence on the CEO.
  • Play a central role in company-wide prioritization and resource allocation decisions, ensuring alignment between strategic goals and technical investments.
  • Maintain a cost-conscious culture, achieving $1M/year in AWS savings through architecture discipline, usage control, and tooling efficiency.
  • Be the steward of Bidgely's technical architecture, ensuring it evolves with scale, supports multiple product lines, and enables long-term flexibility.
  • Codify and elevate engineering best practices—CI/CD automation, design principles, observability, API strategy, cloud governance, and more.
  • Align all engineering efforts to business KPIs, customer outcomes, and product differentiators.
  • Lead from the front to ensure Bidgely is recognized as the technical and operational benchmark in the utility AI space.

Requirements

  • 15+ years of engineering and product experience, including 5+ years in senior leadership.
  • Proven track record of driving innovation and delivering mission-critical software.
  • Experience scaling teams and systems in fast-paced, high-growth environments.
  • Strong technical depth and strategic vision.
  • Ability to navigate architectural decisions, infrastructure challenges, and AI adoption.
  • Operational discipline in product and engineering.
  • Experience in building high-trust, high-performance teams.
  • Customer-obsessed with a focus on user experience and business value.
