About The Position

Under the direction of the Executive Director, the Chief Technologist Radiology oversees the daily technical operation within the Department of Radiology. The Chief Technologist Radiology supervises technical staff, schedules and assigns technical staff to specific tasks, ensures the accuracy and quality of the radiologic images, trains and orients technical staff, monitoring. The Chief Technologist Radiology is also responsible for coordinating activities regarding budgeting, purchasing, contractual agreements, compliance with hospital policy and regulatory promote the mission, vision and value statement of University Hospital.

Requirements

  • Must be a graduate of an approved Radiology Technology Program.
  • NJ State license and ARRT Certification and current active registration.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in a health-related field (or Substitution).
  • Five (5) years radiology experience, two (2) of which shall be at a supervisory level.
  • Must be certified in the service to which the candidate is applying MRI; Cat Scan (CT); Interventional Radiology; Mammography; Ultrasound (ARDMS required; No NJDEP required); General radiography; and Annual testing.
  • Must maintain valid certification by the American Heart Association in Basic Life Support (BLS)/CPR.
  • Equivalent education, experience and/or training may be substituted for the Degree requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Ensures that all technical procedures are performed in accordance with established protocols, including working with the RIS, PACS, and inventory systems.
  • Interprets oral and written request from physicians in order to perform the exam(s) accurately.
  • Assists the physicians during the procedure as needed.
  • Maintains accurate and appropriate documentation of procedures and department statistics, as required.
  • Cross checks the Physician/Fellow/Physician Assistant/Nurse for the readiness status of the patient (labs/consent/SDS registration) the day before exam(s) and on the day of the exam as required.
  • Trains and orients new technologist.
  • Performs quarterly skill competency assessments on technologist, and documents appropriately.
  • Assists with the pre-procedure preparations including communication with other departments and patient transport.
  • Submits and places orders for clinical supplies when necessary.
  • Submits accurate and timely Payroll of all staff.
  • Complies with all requirements for accrediting agencies by participates in assessing and improving quality within the department and throughout the hospital as appropriate.
