We are currently seeking a talented and experienced Chief Structural Inspector and Plans Examiner to join our team of professionals. Requirements

• Expert-level knowledge of the Florida Building Code, structural systems, threshold building requirements, and wind-load design.
• Ability to interpret and analyze complex engineered plans, specifications, and structural calculations.
• Strong leadership, team-building, and mentoring skills.
• Excellent communication, customer service, and documentation abilities.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with the ability to make sound code-based decisions.
• High level of organization and time management, with the ability to manage multiple plan reviews and inspections simultaneously.
• Proficiency with electronic permitting and plan review systems
• State of Florida Standard Building Inspector License (BN).
• State of Florida Standard Building Plans Examiner License (PX).
• State of Florida Certified General Contractor (CGC) or equivalent.
• 3-5 years combined experience in building department field inspection and plans examiner duties.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Acceptable driving record.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily operations of the Structural Inspection and Plan Review Division, including supervising inspectors and plans examiners.
• Conduct advanced-level structural inspections for residential, commercial, high-rise, industrial, and specialty structures.
• Perform detailed structural plan reviews, including analysis of engineered drawings, structural calculations, product approvals, thresholds, and life-safety components.
• Approve or deny plans and permit applications based on Florida Building Code compliance.
• Issue clear, professional plan review comments and inspection reports.
• Provide technical code interpretation and guidance to contractors, engineers, architects, and municipal staff.
• Ensure consistent application of codes, regulations, and Broward County amendments.
• Develop and implement procedures, training programs, and quality-control standards for both inspection and plan review staff.
• Assist with escalated issues, disputes, or appeals related to structural code requirements.
• Participate in interdepartmental meetings, technical committees, and public hearings as needed.
