About The Position

We are seeking an experienced and dynamic Chief Security Officer (CSO) (Physical Security) to lead and oversee enterprise-wide physical security operations for the Connectivity & Platforms (C&P) business and Corporate Headquarters in Philadelphia. This executive role is responsible for protecting the company's people, assets, and facilities against current and emerging security threats. The CSO will provide strategic direction for physical security operations, ensuring alignment with broader business objectives. This role will partner closely with internal stakeholders to safeguard the company's infrastructure, facilities, and personnel across all locations. The CSO will also lead proactive security awareness and training programs to educate employees on best practices, emerging threats, and individual responsibilities related to safety and security. In close collaboration with cross-functional teams-including Business Continuity, Environmental Health & Safety (EHS), Cybersecurity, and other business units-the role will identify vulnerabilities, assess risk, and develop integrated preventive and response strategies spanning physical security, cyber-physical risk, and incident management. Reporting to the Global Chief Security Officer (GCSO), this role will lead a team of more than 200 security professionals supporting both Corporate and Connectivity & Platforms organizations. As a senior executive leader, the CSO will serve as a key advisor to the GCSO and business leadership, providing insights, recommendations, and security briefings. The CSO will work closely with stakeholders across the enterprise, including NBCUniversal and Sky, to communicate, implement, and continuously strengthen enterprise security strategies.

Requirements

  • Generally, requires 15+ years related experience of increasing responsibility with a full suite of corporate security experience to include, crisis management, physical security, critical infrastructure protection, risk controls, and loss prevention.
  • Bachelor's Degree required; Master's Degree preferred in an area of study relevant to this position (i.e., Security Management, Criminal Justice, Business, Compliance, Homeland Security, etc.)
  • Collaborative, with ability to build relationships and drive consensus
  • Ability to manage across multiple stakeholder groups with differing needs
  • Ability to be flexible in an extremely fast-paced, changing environment
  • Must be able to work nights and weekends, variable schedule(s), and overtime, as necessary.
  • Travel locally and nationally approximately 10% of the time. At times with little advanced notice.
  • Experience and expertise with risk assessments and mitigation, threat management, executive protection, investigations and loss prevention, security technology integration, measurement and analytics, security-related policy development, budgeting, contract/vendor negotiation and management.
  • Adept with measuring key program metrics, KPI, executive reporting, building effective business cases which effectively rationalize resource allocation and implementing new programs and initiatives.
  • Results-oriented with superior problem-solving skills and ability to effectively manage varied resources to complete a task/ project.
  • Excellent judgment and creative problem-solving skills, including negotiation and conflict resolution skills.
  • Exceptional written and oral communication and strong presentation skills.
  • Prior roles requiring collaboration with local, state, and federal law enforcement and other government agencies, as well as relationships with global security vendors and consultants.
  • Successful record of accomplishment building consensus and influencing senior leadership and stakeholders to implement strategy and achieve results in times that can be fast-paced, pressurized, and of high volume.

Nice To Haves

  • Certification or accreditation from a risk or security management program such as: Certified Security Project Manager (CSPM), Certified Protection Professional (CPP), Physical Security Professional (PSP), Certified Fraud Investigator (CFI), or Professional Certified Investigator (PCI) is a plus.
  • Certification from an interviewing and interrogation program such as Wicklander-Zulawski & Associates, John E. Reid & Associates, or LSI Laboratory for Scientific Interrogation, Inc. (SCAN) is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and manage a team of security professionals including security analysts, investigators, and access control officers
  • Lead and oversee comprehensive security strategies, incident response protocols, and employee safety and security measures & training.
  • Oversee physical security measures such as building access control, surveillance systems, perimeter security, and emergency response procedures.
  • Builds, maintains, and leverages relationships with key external agencies, including law enforcement and first responders in all operating locations as required.
  • Educating employees on security policies and procedures, raising awareness about potential threats, and promoting a security culture within the organization
  • Builds trusted relationships across the business and acts as a liaison to ensure alignment with security requirements and best practices, enabling executive decision-making speed as well as an efficient exceptions process.
  • Provides strategic oversight for in-house security staffing and as well as the performance of outsourced/contract security partners and other security vendors using key performance indicators to drive continuous improvement.
  • Provides required management oversight and support of investigations into allegations of criminal acts, theft/property loss, sales and fraud investigations, assaults, acts of workplace violence and other activities that disrupts or have the potential to disrupt the delivery and/or brand of Comcast.
  • Directs and oversees key and high profile or sensitive investigations;
  • Oversees security, including coordination of executive protection, physical security and third-party providers for large offsite/onsite events including employee focused as well as customer focused events.
  • Develops and presents executive level business cases to articulate relevant security risks and advise and consult on overly complex challenges and priorities for executive leadership teams.
  • Oversees required risk assessments for the Company and assists in the development of mitigation plans for identified security risks and concerns
  • Cultivates the security team by assigning responsibility, managing accountability, and providing opportunities for growth while also being responsible for establishing and leading cross-team initiatives to drive process improvements- effectively identifying and structuring solutions to address complex and ambiguous issues.
  • Other duties as assigned.
