As a Chief Scientist in Materials, you will work with engineering and product teams across all the GE Vernova businesses and across the research center to develop technology and product roadmaps that define the disruptive future of GE Vernova’s businesses. You will identify, shape and lead the evolution of scientific discovery, new ideas, and inventions in materials research and development that will have strategic impact on GE Vernova. As a chief scientist will foster strategic collaborations with government partners, national laboratories, universities, and strategic technology / business partners to drive innovative solutions for GE Vernova and its customers. You will define the future of Material Research and Development by: Leading the strategy for the energy material technology stack across various technology organizations within Vernova Advanced Research and across multiple GE Vernova businesses. Working to drive the tech stack for the future of energy materials with unique properties that enable generation, efficient energy conversion, storage, and conservation as well as application of nanomaterials, smart materials and composites to improve the performance of existing material systems. Providing thought leadership on disruptive technologies and market trends with a strong understanding of what the competition is doing. Driving the development of energy material solutions as a key architect. Solving the companies’ most impactful scientific challenges. You will work with engineers and scientists across multiple technology organizations to identify energy material technology trends with disruption potential for existing and future GE Vernova businesses. You will collaborate with key GE Vernova business stakeholders and C-suite level executives as well as with external partners such as universities, national laboratories, and government agencies to: Lead early-stage technology development with high disruption potential and mature these technologies from initial concept to successful product introduction. Coordinate disruptive technology efforts in close collaboration with our GE Vernova businesses and ensure that such efforts are incorporated into long-term multi-generational technology and product road maps. Drive technology and product roadmaps to ensure our businesses have a multi-year strategic plan that is competitive. You will help to shape the externals strategy for materials research and development by creating and fostering relationships within the U.S. Department of Energy, Department of Defense and other government agencies to influence and shape research that drives the innovation in the power sector by: Shaping and responding to government solicitations related to material research and development and energy material technologies Working with business stakeholders to identify and foster partnerships Identifying and mentoring key technical talent to serve as Principal Investigators on large government programs. You will communicate these cross-organizational and cross-business technology strategies during technical briefings and updates to Senior VP and CEO level executives across GE Vernova as well as to C-suite level stakeholders at external businesses, government agencies, and universities.
