Reporting to the CEO, the Chief Schools Officer (CSO) is responsible for the comprehensive implementation of KIPP NorCal's TK-12 program, encompassing academics, instruction, school culture, special education, multilingual learners, and social-emotional learning. As such, they will ensure joyful, academically excellent schools for all KIPP NorCal students. They are also responsible for ensuring a college-preparatory high-school program that seamlessly integrates with our KIPP Forward program that supports alumni on their post-secondary path and a life of their choosing. The Chief Schools Officer manages a team that includes the Deputy Chief Schools Officer, the Managing Directors of Schools (to whom the Principals report), and the Managing Director of Academics. In this senior leadership role, they disrupt racial and socio-economic inequities in educational access and outcomes by setting and upholding the bar of excellence for our organizational teaching and learning vision; ensure the right people, systems, and structures are in place to drive student academic growth and achievement for all learners; facilitate inclusive, positive school cultures; and advance a cohesive, systematic approach to all facets of school management. This role requires an instructional expert with a track record of exemplary school leadership, and a deep commitment to advancing educational equity. Ideal candidates will have extensive school and executive leadership experience including a track record of success as a School Leader and School Leader manager; and significant expertise in systems-building, problem-solving, talent development, cross-functional collaboration, and team leadership. They will also have a history of collaborating with and building capacity in diverse teams to achieve ambitious outcomes for students, and an established track record of leading successful cross-functional change management efforts at scale.
