About the position

The Chief Risk Officer (CRO) for North America will be accountable to the Group CRO and North America leadership for the oversight and implementation of the Risk Management Framework. The role aims to enhance the quality of decision-making through providing risk-based challenge and reporting. The CRO will oversee the implementation and oversight of the Risk Management Framework in North America, ensuring its appropriateness and effectiveness.

Responsibilities

  • Set and monitor overall risk management activities at the Group level for North America.
  • Oversee the implementation and oversight of the Risk Management Framework in North America.
  • Enhance decision-making quality through regular risk reporting and ORSA reporting.
  • Act as the second line of defense, providing risk oversight and challenge.
  • Promote a robust risk culture and maintain a documented control environment owned by the business.
  • Critically appraise the control environment proposed by the business against the agreed risk appetite and provide recommendations.
  • Collaborate with other risk experts to ensure risks, including emerging risks, are identified and managed.
  • Prepare or review risk management sections of reports and accounts.
  • Manage and assess the financial impact of climate change on the firm, including board reporting.
  • Integrate climate change financial impact assessments into Beazley's business planning process.

Requirements

  • Proven experience in significant risk management roles.
  • Experience working with c-suite management and executive teams.
  • In-depth regulator relations experience in an insurance-related organization.
  • Strong regulatory and market best practice knowledge relevant to risk management.
  • Strong knowledge of the property and casualty insurance industry.
  • Strong general commercial and financial knowledge.
