About The Position

As a key member of our leadership team, the Chief Retail & Deposit Officer is responsible for: guiding the overall direction, performance, and culture of our retail branch network; oversite of deposit related product development, including treasury management products; and development of deposit related sales programs. This role is rooted in our commitment to community banking where relationships matter, service is personal, and every employee plays a vital role in making a difference to our clients and in the communities we serve. The Chief Retail & Deposit Officer leads retail and treasury sales teams to provide high-quality service and promote a strong, trust-based sales culture with solid product knowledge and client focus. The executive is responsible for establishing effective, cost effective, and customer centric controls and operations. This executive leader also ensures that the bank’s retail and commercial deposit products reflect industry developments and meet market demands.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, or related field; or 15 plus years of equivalent experience (15+ years in banking leadership).
  • Proven experience managing retail banking operations and treasury services, preferably in a community banking environment.
  • Strong leadership skills with a passion for mentoring and team development.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with a heart for service.
  • Deep understanding of banking regulations, compliance, and risk management.
  • Ability to think strategically while staying grounded in day-to-day operations.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and banking systems.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic and hands-on leadership to all retail branch managers and treasury management staff
  • Champion a culture of trust, integrity, respect, collaboration, and service excellence across all locations
  • Build an effective intra and inter departmental team environment
  • Develop staff for future leadership roles
  • Serve as a mentor and resource to branch and treasury teams, helping them grow professionally and personally
  • Work closely with Operations, Human Resources, Audit, IT, and Risk departments to ensure alignment with organizational goals and compliance standards.
  • Lead efforts to develop and enhance banking products and treasury services that meet the evolving needs of our clients.
  • Support the creation and implementation of sales development programs that encourage relationship-building and community engagement.
  • Ensure staff are well-trained in product knowledge and equipped to offer thoughtful, need-based solutions.
  • Develop and monitor incentive programs to align with the company’s strategic initiatives and drive performance across the retail network.
  • Evaluate staffing needs and support recruitment, training, and development of branch and treasury management personnel.
  • Guide managers in building strong, service-oriented teams that reflect the values of our bank and the communities we serve.
  • Monitor branch performance, budgets, and profitability, and provide coaching to help teams meet their goals.
  • Actively participate in community events and outreach efforts to strengthen local relationships.
  • Take leadership role in civic organizations
  • Support managers in resolving client concerns with empathy and professionalism.
  • Resolve customer complaints and disputes with a focus on long-term relationship preservation and service recovery.
  • Join managers on client visits to deepen relationships and identify new opportunities for service.
  • Ensure consistent implementation of bank policies and procedures across all branches.
  • Collaborate with other departments to maintain smooth operations and clear communication.
  • Participate in the bank’s Balance Sheet Management / Pricing Committee
  • Participate in the Bank’s Information Technology Steering Committee
  • Participate in the bank’s formal strategic planning sessions
  • Prepare and present presentations for the Board or committees thereof
  • Lead strategic expansion initiatives including market prioritization, site selection, and new office development
