About The Position

This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. You must meet specific eligibility requirements per VHA policy and submit your EDRP application within four months of appointment. Program Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) & eligibility period (one to five years) are determined by the VHA Education Loan Repayment Services program office after review of the EDRP application. Former EDRP participants ineligible to apply. This is an Open Continuous Announcement and may be extended beyond the current closing date until the position is filled. The Southeast Louisiana Veterans Health Care System (SLVHCS), a tertiary care referral facility in New Orleans. The replacement medical center is recruiting a full-time radiologist to serve as Chief, Diagnostic Imaging Service, a position reporting to the Chief of Staff. The incumbent will lead a growing radiology program in an entirely new hospital which will serve about 70,000 veterans. The incumbent is fully accountable and for the effective and efficient management and supervision (planning, directing, organizing, and coordinating) of SLVHCS radiology programs and services, including nuclear medicine and radiology.

Requirements

  • 1 full and unrestricted license from any US State or territory
  • Candidates must meet the requirements for a faculty position at the affiliated medical schools.

Nice To Haves

  • American Board of Radiology certified with fellowship training in one of the radiology specialties (e.g. neuroradiology) and with prior leadership experience in the specialty of radiology.
  • Demonstrated accomplishment in scholarly activities such as clinical research, education and publications

Responsibilities

  • Exercising administrative, programmatic, clinical, and academic oversight of radiology programs to ensure delivery of quality, patient-focused clinical services
  • Coordinating and integrating both clinical and administrative aspects of the radiology programs to meet the needs of the veteran population
  • Continuously reviewing and evaluating the professional performance, competence and professionalism of all individuals with clinical privileges
  • Ensuring that there is compliance with all accrediting organizations' standards that are applicable to radiology programs
  • Assuring that performance measures are met
  • Providing efficient management of resources and budgetary constraints
  • Facilitating a collaborative and collegial team environment
  • Developing orientation and training of radiology staff and identifies needs and concerns concerning the service
