We are seeking a highly experienced Chief Preconstruction Estimator to lead the estimating and preconstruction functions for a nationally recognized, award-winning general contractor. This Director-level position offers a seat at the table with executive leadership—driving strategic decision-making and regional growth in the Memphis market. Requirements
- Minimum of 10 years of preconstruction and estimating experience with a commercial general contractor.
- Proven expertise in cost modeling, conceptual estimating, and hard-bid processes.
- Strong understanding of construction drawings, contracts, and project documentation.
- Proficiency in estimating software platforms such as WinEst, Sage Estimating, On-Screen Takeoff, or Bluebeam.
- Excellent mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Strong communication and leadership abilities to work across internal and external teams.
Nice To Haves
- Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field preferred.
Responsibilities
- Lead and oversee all preconstruction and estimating activities for commercial construction projects.
- Prepare and coordinate detailed cost estimates, conceptual budgets, and GMP proposals.
- Manage and mentor preconstruction staff, fostering professional growth and technical expertise.
- Partner with architects, engineers, and clients during design development to align budgets and constructability.
- Analyze drawings, specifications, and bid documents to ensure accurate takeoffs and pricing.
- Develop and maintain subcontractor relationships; solicit, review, and evaluate bids.
- Collaborate with operations and business development teams to support project pursuit strategies.
- Lead value-engineering and risk analysis efforts to optimize project outcomes.
- Present estimates and preconstruction strategies to executives and clients with professionalism and clarity.
