Requirements

  • Minimum of 10 years of preconstruction and estimating experience with a commercial general contractor.
  • Proven expertise in cost modeling, conceptual estimating, and hard-bid processes.
  • Strong understanding of construction drawings, contracts, and project documentation.
  • Proficiency in estimating software platforms such as WinEst, Sage Estimating, On-Screen Takeoff, or Bluebeam.
  • Excellent mathematical, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and leadership abilities to work across internal and external teams.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, or a related field preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and oversee all preconstruction and estimating activities for commercial construction projects.
  • Prepare and coordinate detailed cost estimates, conceptual budgets, and GMP proposals.
  • Manage and mentor preconstruction staff, fostering professional growth and technical expertise.
  • Partner with architects, engineers, and clients during design development to align budgets and constructability.
  • Analyze drawings, specifications, and bid documents to ensure accurate takeoffs and pricing.
  • Develop and maintain subcontractor relationships; solicit, review, and evaluate bids.
  • Collaborate with operations and business development teams to support project pursuit strategies.
  • Lead value-engineering and risk analysis efforts to optimize project outcomes.
  • Present estimates and preconstruction strategies to executives and clients with professionalism and clarity.
