About The Position

The Chief Pilot – Medium Range leads and supports Walmart Aviation teams by fostering transparent communication and promoting a strong safety culture. This role involves active flight operations as Captain, ensuring compliance with Federal Aviation Regulations and company procedures while managing crew performance and development. The Chief Pilot evaluates and enhances standard operating procedures, oversees operational planning, and ensures efficient, safe travel experiences. By driving continuous improvement and collaboration across departments, this position upholds the highest standards of integrity, operational excellence, and regulatory compliance to support Walmart’s aviation objectives. The team ensures safe, timely, and efficient travel experiences by managing all aspects of flight operations. They collaborate across departments including Flight Operations, Safety, Training, and Maintenance to uphold high standards and compliance with Federal Aviation Regulations. The team actively supports continuous improvement through open communication, thorough planning, and adherence to standard operating procedures. Members contribute expertise in aviation safety, pilot certification, and operational efficiency while providing guidance and coaching to enhance performance. Together, they maintain a strong safety culture and deliver flexible, customer-focused travel solutions aligned with company values and regulatory requirements.

Requirements

  • Extensive knowledge of Federal Aviation Regulations and pilot licensing requirements.
  • Proven experience in operating as a Captain on medium-range aircraft with strong flight discipline.
  • Ability to develop, evaluate, and improve Standard Operating Procedures to enhance safety and efficiency.
  • Strong leadership skills to mentor and coach crew members, fostering a safety culture.
  • Expertise in flight planning, including weather analysis, fuel management, and route optimization.
  • Excellent communication skills to build positive relationships across aviation teams and stakeholders.
  • Commitment to integrity, compliance, and continuous improvement in aviation operations.
  • Bachelor's degree or higher in a management-related discipline or a related field, or at least 3 years of supervisory experience as a Chief Pilot or in any aviation management position.
  • Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) License with multi-engine land ratings and English proficiency endorsement.
  • Valid passport.
  • FAA first class medical certificate.
  • 2,000 hours total flight time.
  • 1,000 hours turbine time.
  • 500 hours Pilot-in-Command (PIC) time.
  • Type rating in jet aircraft

  • 10 years’ experience in corporate or military aviation.

Responsibilities

  • Lead and operate as Captain on medium-range flights, ensuring compliance with Federal Aviation Regulations and company standard operating procedures.
  • Foster transparent communication and positive relationships across aviation teams to support operational objectives and continuous improvement.
  • Conduct thorough flight planning, including route analysis, weather assessment, fuel calculations, and regulatory documentation for domestic and international operations.
  • Promote and model a strong safety culture by conducting debriefings, monitoring crew performance, and coaching for skill development.
  • Manage operational risks by developing contingencies and recommending SOP enhancements to leadership.
  • Ensure cost-effective procurement and maintenance arrangements while maintaining regulatory compliance and customer service excellence.
