The Chief of Operations and Field Services positions represent two distinct yet interconnected leadership roles within the MTA Police Department. Each position carries specific responsibilities, but both require a shared understanding of operational and administrative functions to ensure seamless interchangeability. The Chief of Operations & Field Services oversees the deployment, activities, operation, and administration of approximately 1,300 patrol officers, detectives, and special operations personnel to safeguard MTA's 70,000 employees, 8 million daily customers, and infrastructure valued in the hundreds of billions across a 5,000-square-mile area. This role ensures that the Department's goals, as established by the MTA Chairman and Chief of Police, are communicated and upheld by field officers and administrative staff.
