About The Position

The Chief Operating Officer (COO) is a key member of the senior executive leadership team of WellLife Network. Reporting directly to the Chief Executive Officer, the COO provides strategic and operational leadership across the organization, ensuring high-quality, cost-effective, and mission-driven services. The COO will oversee and integrate multiple divisions, Mental Health Services, Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD) Services, Substance Use Disorder Services, Children and Family Services, and Care Coordination. The COO partners closely with the CEO, the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO), the Chief Financial Officer (CFO), and the Board of Directors to advance WellLife Network's mission and vision, drive operational excellence, and foster innovation in service delivery.

Requirements

  • Master's degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, Social Work, Healthcare Administration, or a related field (preferred).
  • Advanced clinical licensure with demonstrated experience in clinical program leadership preferred.
  • Minimum of 10 years of progressive leadership experience in a large, complex nonprofit or healthcare/human services organization.
  • Proven track record of operational leadership across multiple service areas.
  • Strong financial acumen, with experience in budgeting, contract and grant management, and performance management.
  • Deep knowledge of regulatory requirements in mental health, substance use disorder, developmental disabilities, and related service areas.
  • Demonstrated ability to partner effectively with Boards, funders, regulators, and community stakeholders.
  • Exceptional communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead organizational strategy and development initiatives, integrating program operations with long-term growth and mission objectives.
  • Collaborate with the CEO, CFO, CAO, and senior leadership to develop and implement organizational strategies, business plans, and growth initiatives.
  • Partner with the CAO to integrate HR and QA strategies that strengthen organizational culture, talent management, and program compliance.
  • Partner with the CFO to evaluate fiscal viability and develop initiatives that will support fiscal sustainability.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor and thought partner to the CEO and an active participant in Board of Directors' meetings and committees.
  • Directly supervise divisional leadership across Mental Health Residential, IDD Services, Mental Health & Substance Use Disorder Clinical Services, Children's Services, and Care Coordination.
  • Establish clear performance goals, accountability measures, and benchmarks to evaluate the effectiveness and sustainability of assigned programs and services.
  • Drive operational improvements to enhance efficiency, service quality, compliance, and staff retention.
  • Monitor budgets, control costs, and ensure financial sustainability of assigned divisions.
  • Oversee business operations that support long-term growth, including census management, contract compliance, and program expansion opportunities.
  • Contribute to the development of new revenue streams and funding partnerships.
  • Build and lead a high-performing, collaborative management team that embraces WellLife Network's values.
  • Mentor and support divisional leaders to enhance their leadership capacity and operational effectiveness.
  • Foster collaboration and communication among directors and key operations staff to create and execute a cohesive and integrated organizational approach to operations management.
  • Champion inclusivity and belongingness across all areas of the organization.
  • Collaborate with communications team to strengthen the agency's visibility and branding.
  • Represent WellLife Network in key stakeholder forums, building and maintaining strong relationships with funders, community partners, and regulatory agencies.
  • Serve as an ambassador for the organization, advancing its reputation as a leader in human services.
  • Engage in government relations and advocacy efforts related to regulatory agencies.
