About The Position

The Department of Transitional Assistance (DTA) is seeking qualified applicants for the position of Chief of Staff. This role serves as a key facilitator of communication between the Commissioner, DTA staff, and external stakeholders.
The Chief of Staff supports the agency’s mission by helping to ensure the effective and efficient delivery of services and benefits to low-income individuals and families across the Commonwealth.
About The Department of Transitional Assistance:
The Department of Transitional Assistance (DTA) assists and empowers low-income individuals and families to meet their basic needs, improve their quality of life, and achieve long term economic self-sufficiency. DTA serves one in nine residents of the Commonwealth with direct economic assistance (cash benefits) and food assistance (SNAP benefits), as well as workforce training opportunities.

Requirements

• Applicants must have at least (A) seven (7) years of full-time or, equivalent part-time, professional, administrative, supervisory, or managerial experience in business administration, business management, public administration, public management, clinical administration or clinical management of which (B) at least three (3) years must have been in a managerial capacity.

• Ability to properly assess the impact of outside forces.
• Given the population served, bilingual or multilingual fluency.

Responsibilities

• Advise the Commissioner in deciding strategic, policy, program, budget and service provision issues
• Assist the Commissioner with the management, oversight and direction of the agency
• Design and implement communication and legislative processes
• Design and implement strategies to align agency managers with the Department’s mission, goals, strategy, direction and vision
• Lead, support and promote organizational effectiveness and efficiency
• Plan, organize and implement projects and priority initiatives
