About The Position

The Chief of Staff for the Office of Spiritual and Religious Life (OSRL) at Emory University plays a crucial role in supporting the Dean by managing day-to-day operations, staff, budgets, and communications. This position ensures that the department runs smoothly, allowing the Dean to focus on strategic initiatives and program development. The Chief of Staff will also oversee program logistics, manage space reservations, and assist in financial management and personnel supervision.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree and five years of progressively responsible operations/management experience in higher education or a complex organization.
  • Master's degree in higher education administration or a related field preferred.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Demonstrated supervisory skills and ability to manage confidential information.
  • Strong awareness of religious diversity, social justice, and interfaith engagement concepts.
  • Proficiency with a personal computer and relevant software applications.

Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day operations of the OSRL, including staff, budgets, and communications.
  • Build and send out weekly e-newsletters and manage social media accounts.
  • Provide logistics support for major OSRL programs such as King Week and Ramadan preparations.
  • Manage reservation processes for OSRL spaces and ensure proper setup with the Program Coordinator.
  • Approve department expense reports and track program-specific budgets.
  • Assist in searching for, onboarding, supervising, and reviewing personnel.
  • Develop meeting materials and agendas for the Dean and others.
  • Research and compile information for presentations and conferences.
  • Assist in strategic and program planning processes and meetings.
  • Coordinate the execution of strategic initiatives, programs, and campaigns.
  • Develop data management and communications strategies for the department.
  • Assist in policy and procedure development and implementation.
  • Build and support departmental and institutional relations, serving as a liaison with stakeholders.
