About The Position

The Chief of Services for the City of Portsmouth is responsible for the supervisory and administrative oversight of various social services programs, including Adult, Child, Family, and Children's Services Act (CSA) programs. This role involves budget management, staff development, and ensuring compliance with policies and procedures. The Chief of Services will participate in strategic planning and provide input on agency policies while managing resources effectively to meet the needs of the community.

Requirements

• Master's degree in sociology, human services, or a related field.
• 6-9 years of experience in human services or case management work.
• 5-7 years of supervisory experience.
• Thorough knowledge of local, state, and federal laws governing social services programs.
• Strong organizational and leadership skills.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and administer the Adult, Child, Family, and CSA programs.
• Prepare and monitor budgets and expenditures.

• Assist with strategic planning and special projects.
• Review agency programs and assist in complex case evaluations.
• Prepare corrective action plans for various child welfare programs.
• Serve as back-up supervisor for Child Protective Services emergencies.
• Respond to inquiries from staff, community members, and legislative officers.
